I have also lost a child, my son passed away at age 19 from cancer, I am attempting to make a butterfly garden and a shade garden in his memory, maybe we can be of help to each other...

Your memorial garden looks very special. We planted a memorial garden for our daughter 13 years ago. It still very special and birthdays and special days are for planting and weeding and special care in her garden. No better therapy.
