Sustainable gardening means, no pesticides. I like a dwarf lilac tree, and had a great time with a bunch of poppey seeds from Pender Island (2006). Our view over a tree covenant (habitat protected area) of many interesting native species trees, bushes la la la means outdoor enjoyment with multiple facets.

We just moved to a new apartment. Eastern exposure, almost total shade, so the marigolds & Martha Washington geranium I brought with me are not happy! Neither is my succulent planter. So I guess next year, it will be lots of coleus (love coleus), impatients, begonias, ferns, whatever I find suitable, I guess. There's not even much light for my houseplants.

I grow container citrus, from seeds, and eventually from cuttings and through grafts. I have a balcony full of tomato plants, peppers, and herbs. I love my garden and the rewards of seeing it grow are inexplicable. Trying to get some lemon and lime trees started, but I don't know if they'll survive the winter.

I have an enclosed garden surrounded by stone walls. It consists of two parts, one is lawned with three central flower beds, a further flower bed running next to the wall and three trees, The lower garden is again lawned with a separate vegetable plot and one flower bed, There is a small herb garden and I also have several balcony plants and container plants.

Spring,summer,fall,winter, spring... enchanting to see the seasons change. Now I move to Hong Kong in which private land garden is almost not existing, only with a hot and a cool season. It is a big void without any plant life around, so I created this balcony garden to fill the void - from 8000 sq ft to 38 sq ft - what a drastic change! But that little sacred space capsulizes the universal joy of gardening - ????, ????...

I am still in the process of breaking in the soil, putting in my favourite plants in a tiny piece of the garden and populating a big long balcony with things that can survive the full sun of the Italian summer. This spring I should see my first tulips, lillies, narcissus, paeonies, irises and alliums blooming. I should also see the Daphne, Osmanthus, Magnolia Stellata, Clematis Armaandi, the various types of clematis patens and rhododendrons put in at least a little bit of a show on the balcony...Of course there is always the chance that some of these will not like the Full sun treatment on the balcony but I will find out this year. I need to describe the Vegetable and fruit area as well but I will leave that to later.

I don't have a garden yet. I have just started by seeding some pots. We'll see what comes out of it.
