Garden: Limn Co Roof GardenA two-level garden rising from the ground to cover the building and reach toward the colorful flowers hanging down from the roof.
Garden: Posies and PiesA tiny organic patio garden full of edible flowers, herbs and vegetables. The trailing ground veggies live in hanging baskets and I am training them to hang off the eves. The plants also provide shade for my apartment in the hot sun.

Garden: John's GardenI have four, raised, square-foot gardens (three are 4x4; 1 is 2x4), two Earthboxes, and one Garden Patch Grow Box. I also have a grape growing in a 3x3 raised bed in the front. This is its second year and I'm hoping it will fruit this year.
Garden: Wulf's Victory GardenThis is Wulf's Victory Garden. Location is near Waco Airfield & Museum in Troy, Ohio. I grow from seed cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers and other edible stuff.
Garden: Sherrys GardenWell the season is almost over for us in Manitoba but we have had some gorgeous days this past week and the long weekend looks wonderful to. Will enjoy how wonderful everything looks at this time of year! I have added a few more photos of some that I missed over the past few months.
Garden: herbalivei grow herbs indoors and outdoors in containers. i can't grow anything else otherwise it would be stolen by rats
Garden: balcony happinessSustainable gardening means, no pesticides. I like a dwarf lilac tree, and had a great time with a bunch of poppey seeds from Pender Island (2006). Our view over a tree covenant (habitat protected area) of many interesting native species trees, bushes la la la means outdoor enjoyment with multiple facets.
Garden: Moms OASISMy garden oasis has been a 3 year work in progress.I'm the "plant as much as you can and pray through the winter" type gardner. So far so good.I'm already looking at fall purchases!
Garden: Porch GardenContainer garden on our back porch. Trying to make the most of a small space and loving it.
Garden: My American GardenThis is an organic container kitchen garden in the heart of an industrial neighborhood. The Gowanus Canal right by my house has been nominated for priority Superfund status, so lately, I've been dealing with issues about soil toxicity and what that means for my compost, my greens, and what I should and shouldn't eat.

Garden: trish's gardenmy garden is very small and is mostly shaded. its kinda under my deck.
i also have a flowerbed in the sun. where i grow my favourite - petunias! :)
Garden: smallest shade garden ever!North/east facing patio, 10ft by 10ft. On UVIC family housing. Tiny but mighty, I have about 20 non-stop begonias, blooming their hearts out, also 4 white impatiens, some kenilworth ivy, a couple of hardy fuschias and some corsican mint, mixed in with other annuals that can handle the shade. Great lil garden for kids, as nothing is toxic.
Garden: Indoor Container Garden (in planning)I have always been brutally awful at keeping indoor plants alive but I believe in the principle of try, try again and I am hoping my children's love and help will....help! As a child my dad would sprout grapefruit seeds between paper towel and a glass, put toothpicks into carrots and potatoes and show me how they sprouted, and it was fabulous. I want to do this too but take it to the next level: grow them the full way with my kids so they can see that even indoors we can grow and eat our own food. My main challenge is being a north-south facing townhouse that I have, really, one good kitchen window with south light: my north window gets virtually no direct sunlight, even less in the winter. So, I figure we will stick to what grows relatively well indoors: container tomatoes, a bean plant or two, perhaps some carrots, our herb pot and, just for fun, I will take on the challenge of growing my own coffee.
Garden: Hummingbird TerraceBackyard Garden with a focus of attracting Hummingbirds, Butterflies and various birds. We live across from a lagoon and receive a large number of birds come to our property. My husband is a landscaper so we are aiming for a terraced garden with two connecting water features, a veggie garden, mostly perennial plants with some annuals for color. We have built a backyard firepit patio and we plan to build a gazebo at some point for those rainy nights. We have a particular fondness for Japanese gardens and will combine some of those elements for esthetics.
Garden: patiocement patio with plants in/on pots. very hot during the summer. do not have much shade. not here in winter but am for late spring, summer, autumn and then it is mexico. want to know what plants i can plant in oct/nov before i leave for when i get back and plants that do not need alot of water and not only cactuses. it is quite cool here in the winter. very rainy and damp0...
Garden: Rose's Balcony of RelaxationWe just moved to a new apartment. Eastern exposure, almost total shade, so the marigolds & Martha Washington geranium I brought with me are not happy! Neither is my succulent planter. So I guess next year, it will be lots of coleus (love coleus), impatients, begonias, ferns, whatever I find suitable, I guess. There's not even much light for my houseplants.
Garden: Secret gardenI created a secret garden on the side of property between the garden wall and a granny cottage using pavers and pots.

Garden: From Long Island, US to Hong KongMy ex-garden in Long Island,New York was on a good size of land. A lotus pond with lotus, waterlily and Koi fish; Tree Peony, Coreopsis, Japanese Maple, Pines, Dogwoods, Azalea, roses and Clementis... Spring, summer, fall, winter, spring... enchanting
to see the seasons change.
Now I move to Hong Kong in which private land garden is almost not existing, only with a hot and a cool season. It is a big void without any plant life around, so I created this balcony garden to fill the void - from 8000 sq ft to 38 sq ft - what a drastic
change! But that little sacred space capsulizes the universal joy of gardening -
????, ????...
Garden: Highrise mini gardenCollection of indoor & outdoor flora and fauna -assorted Heliconia, Sansivera, Lavata, Periwinkles, Petunias, Peace lily, ferns, ivy, money plant, bougainvillae, etc
Garden: terrazza volpian unfortunately shaded terrace in milan.
but keep on growing, although now the house in rented.
Garden: Paxton GardenLaura and John are growing vegetables and herbs this summer! Paxton Garden is a container garden on an east-facing balcony in the suburbs of Chicago. Garden: A Little Victorian HideawayA Victorian Built in 1876 On a busy downtown street. Long and narrow A huge Maple as old as the house dominates the front line. So I built 3 stone terraces and planters out of New York Falgstone and filled it for vertical privacy like so many flower baskets. Good variety of perennials and annuals make it interesting all year. Bridle wreath Spirea mixed with Rho dos, small evergreen bushes interspersed with berginia and a variety colorful annuals.
Garden: Enhancing the neighbourhoodI do Container Gardening inside my property with potting soil and do gardening on the sidewalk, Planting Buffalo lawn and battling with growing plants in the flower beds
Garden: Irina's balconyI don't have a garden yet. I have just started by seeding some pots. We'll see what comes out of it.
Garden: Small ArboretumI purchased a house with a yard that was landscaped for 20 years by the previous owners who really knew what they were doing. The yard has significance in the property value. The 1/4 acre has a small greenhouse, a stream, and 3 ponds. A former aviary has been converted to a multi-functional building (outdoor office, storage, potting bench, etc). Most of the plants were propogated in the greenhouse years ago. The plants are all indigenous, which is helpful. I have lived here for almost 10 years and am STILL learning about this yard (this is my first yard and my first house). When horticulturists and landscapers come here, they are amazed by how much there is in such a small space. It is almost like living in a small park in many ways: a small trail, stone steps, old rhodies, azaleas, magnolias, fruit trees, etc. I LOVE this yard! :)
Garden: The Half Ton GardenThe garden is on our third floor apartment building deck. We cultivate a variety of vegetables, as well as florals. In particular we have several hibiscus, a jade tree and a miniature citrus tree which we have had for several years. We do our best to begin our gardening efforts early and stay on until the last days outdoors. The day we bring our plants indoors only means we have beautiful plants to enjoy all winter. We enjoy our days and nights out amongst our Half Ton Garden.
Garden: My backyard Sangrila~My garden consists of rare collection of tropicals and some propagated from cuttings and seeds.Mostly are on containers for focal accents for the pergola/gazebo settings. This is my sole 'private escape' from daily routine...
Garden: TulStig garden & patioConverted from a concrete jungle we now have a variety of pots and raised beds full of both flowering and edible plants. A haven for our 4 cats and 2 dogs
Garden: garden in da hoodraised garden beds full of veggies (soon to be built). Also planning on surrounding the property with mammoth sunflowers as a privacy fence
Garden: Ruthie's GardenMy garden is a mixture of all kinds of plants; some plants are 10, 15 and some 20 years old. Each plant has its own story. Most of my garden has gone to "pots" More than 200 pots adorn my garden! I chose this style because, number one, it's easier for me and number two, with a potted garden I can rearrange it as often as I like. My present goal is to acquire more desirable pots for my garden. At present most of,well, a large portion of my pots are simply painted plastic containers. So much of my garden is in full blossom at present, thanks to the abundence of rain recently in California. My dream is to have a continueous blossoming garden through the year. Perhaps I can accomplish this desire as I utulize your tips and information from this site and my dream will become a reality.
Garden: Robs' VeggiesCurrently operating 3 EarthBoxes + a few pots and a home-made EarthBox-type of bucket. Only a smattering of vegetables so far, with no real production yet.
Garden: Hideaway ParadiseI have a summer garden, it looks pretty disgusting at the moment. A lot of work this time of year, getting away on me. Need to dig out a shrub and a flax and it is very hard for a single woman to dig heavy things out. COuld do with some advice.
Garden: Blue Heron Park Community GardenThis sweet garden, located in a new park, features 20 plots, each 20 X 20, with two handicapped accessible plots which are raised to 24 inches. It also has a children's garden with a pizza garden, butterfly garden, bean teepee, and some tiny square foot garden boxes for the kids. The garden is only 5 years old, and was designed and built by teens living in a shelter home. They surveyed the surrounding neighborhoods for interest, applied for a local grant, built a garden shed, and built a deer proof fence using poles harvested from a forestry project. It has a gazebo built from the same harvested lumber. Gardeners gather monthly for parties and workdays. This year we have been blessed with many babies and their young parents, all learning to garden organically.
Garden: Banzao House GardenNamely green and 2 large mediterranean pine trees. Near the external walls vines (cat claws, jasmins, wisperia) and also some kind of pines. In the front of the house 2 large palm trees. 4 orange trees in the backyard. and some flowers around the trees.
Garden: GREEN MINT TEA-ROOMMy partial herb garden is a mixture of herbs and greenry that depicts the name "Greenroom Tea Garden" situated almost midway on a 295 ft lot. Greenroom Tea Garden is right in the middle of my back yard garden and my front yard garden. From the "Tearoom Garden" the family can access the big playroom. Different kinds of mints, Rosemary, Sweet Basel, to name a few, now grow in my Greenroom Tea Garden.

Dean Sparrewath NielsenAvid apartment gardener and composter. Trying to learn about growing food and plants by growing at home. Concerned about the conditions of our atmosphere, therefor trying to minimize the amount of householdwaste which leaves the apartment and ends up at the landfill. Landfills often release methanegasses due to anaerobic decomposition and methane damage our atmosphere heavily. Biodegradeable householdwaste goes directly into the apartment compost.

RuthieThese are the hands that wore the glovrs that tilted the soil, that planted the seeds, that grew the plants that became the garden that Ruthie LOVES! I'm often told that my hands are not garden hands; my hands are not so bad, however, my gloves are my salvation.
There's a love affair that exist between my garden and myself. No matter whats going on around me if I can make it to my garben, all is well. Gospel music plays throughout the day in my garden-even our dog, allie, enjoys the melody. The sprinkling system waters the lawn but I choose to water all the plants by hand including all the 15 palm trees.
Speaking of palm trees: They are not doing well-I thought we were over the hump-but they (palm trees) keep getting more brown. I have 2 sega palms in the ground, they seem to be doing well, however, the rest are in pots and that might be the problem. My reason for potting the palms is that we have ghopers in our area-actually throughout the entire city and they, gophers, love to eat the roots. Anyway that's my dilemma. I'm open to suggestions!
Coming soon: 1. Front Yard Garden 2. Green Tea Room 3. The Eatery (Patio and Grill-outside kitchen-garden) and you already met my Rock Garden. Oh and Ruthie's Garden will undergo some transitions-it will gain a word in the proccess. We will call it Ruthie's Tranquil Paradise. You like that?
I mentioned gophers, does anyone have a solution to that problem? No cats or snakes please!!! No cats because my dog, Ollie...
Garden Photo:This orchid was on the verge death until we saw it and saved the poor little guy. This orchid was planted in dirt for one and it hadnt been watered in weeks. still blooming and with comming inflorescence we decided we would take the journey and hopefully get it to recover. This photo was taken 3 weeks later! The right potting material and some love and voila!
Garden Photo:Early Feb 2010 and our Landlord's son made easy work of ploughing a bit of spare land to extend the veg plot! Tony frantically now digging it over to remove sods which he is piling up to dry and then we will shake off and use soil for potting.(Tony now telling me we will cover the piles which are earth side up, the grass will rot and make a good compost material.)
Garden Photo:This is my potting bench area. Lots of herbs and spices ready to place on our deck after we have finished staining it.
Garden Photo:I dont know what these seedling are going to be..I put seeds in that I had randomly collected on my rides about town..and decided to put them in potting mix and then i transplanted them as dozens came up..lots more to do..
